Everything is quiet
When the last light turns the branches orange
And the sky's pale gold
Begins to pinken
Behind the sharp dark sillouettes
Of long needles
And echoes of the flint blades
Of ancient man
The wind rustles the skirts of the bushes
Green-gowned señoritas on the lonely road
Waiting
Catching their claws at the first unwary traveler
From a Spanish folk tale I read a while ago. At a particular inn nobody travels at night, because of a demon that disguises itself as a beautiful but sickly young lady and begs for a ride. As soon as it mounts, the horse realizes what it is and gallops crazily, trying to throw it while the demon grabs the riders shoulders with its claws to stay on. When the rider falls off, the monster kills him. (This is the legend at the inn, not the entire story).

Oh yeah! "pinken" is a word I made up. Like "redden" but with pink instead of red.
